Unusual Staffordshire Figure of a Farmer Holding a Goose

Description

A good quality Staffordshire pottery figure of a farmer, holding a goose, with a gun held at his left side, standing on a scroll moulded mound base with tree support at the rear. (Made without bocage)
* This subject appears to be modelled after a well known C18th Derby porcelain figure, known as ‘The Italian Farmer’.
** The figure is sometimes mistakenly described as ‘A Falconer’, well if it is the Falcon has a very long neck, a bill & webbed feet…!
Date: circa 1800-1810
Height : 8⅛” (20.5cm)
Condition : Overall condition is good, the gun is a hand made replacement, very minor associated restoration to his fingertips & a minute chip on his jacket, there is no other damage or restoration. (pre restoration photo available)
