Rare Pratt Ware Figure of a Soldier

Description

A fine and rare early English pottery large figure of a soldier (possibly depicting the Duke of Wellington?) standing beside a classical style bust of a man.
Earthenware decorated with typical ‘Pratt’ type high temperature underglaze colours.
probably Yorkshire.
Date: circa 1800-1820
Height : 13″ (33cm)
Condition : Some very good restoration to the ankles* and socle of the bust only.

* a rare survivor, ‘free standing’ figures, made without any support such as a tree or spill holder were very difficult to fire and are suceptible to damage.
