Rare early Staffordshire Figure of a ‘London Barber’

Description

A very scarce early 19th century Staffordshire pottery figure of a Barber, wearing an apron, with a wig on a stand supported by a column which is inscribed  ‘DEP GOBBLE WIG THE LONDON BARBER’
Pearlware pottery with overglaze enamel colours.
This example has a very thin glaze and was possibly slightly overfired, giving a dry appearance to the decoration.
Date: circa 1820
Height : 6¼” (18cm)
Condition : Excellent original condition, no damage or restoration. Just minor surface wear from handling.
