A good 18th century Staffordshire pottery figure of a shepherd carrying ‘The Lost Sheep’ on his shoulder.
Earthenware decorated with Ralph Wood type coloured glazes.
* Note the unglazed ‘dry’ interior to the base, a classic feature of early coloured glaze figures, the figure is ‘painted’ with glazes, not ‘dipped’.
Date: circa 1785
Height :8½” (21.5cm)
Condition : Professional restoration to his neck, left wrist & part of the stick.
