Pair of C19th English – Enamelled Terracotta Vases

Description

An unusual pair of 19th century terracotta vases with elephant head and ring handles, decorated with hand painted flowers and butterflies in coloured enamels.
Date: circa 1830’s
Height : 8¼” (21cm)
Condition : Some good restoration to rim chips, one ring handle and to the base of one vase.

AD comment: Both Spode and Wedgwood made terracotta wares with similar decoration, in the 1820’s/30’s but these unmarked vases do not quite fit either of those manufacturers.
