Description
A good quality late 18th century English creamware large jug, decorated with a hand coloured transfer print of ‘The Farmers Arms‘, the reverse with an interior scene of gentlemen seated around a table, titled : EVENING or the MAN of FEELING’ after a drawing by Henry W Bunbury, published by John Raphael Smith in 1781. Inscribed: ‘Joseph Symcock 1797′ below the lip.
Date : circa 1797
Height : 8¼” (21cm)
Condition: A very faint, short hairline beside the lip, another short crack the other side of the lip has been restored. A very small restored chip inside the footrim.
