Description
Early Staffordshire pottery Toby Jug, the seated figure holding a pipe and a foaming jug of ale. Decorated with overglaze enamel colours with a colourful simulated marble base.
Attributed to James Neale, Hanley, Staffs.
Date: circa 1790-1800
Height : 9¾” (24.8cm)
Condition : Some restoration and overpainting to the hat. Some oxidisation to the brown enamel on his coat and a few flakes touched in.
* The ‘lid’ is a made up replacement.
