Description
A very colourful Derby porcelain figure, eblematic of Africa from a set of the four continents, the boy standing with one knee resting on a recumbent lion, wearing an elephant headress and holding a large cornucopia of fruit.
*A tricky piece to put a date on, it might be a late 18th century figure that has been coloured and re-fired at a later date of it could be an early product from the King Street factory… either way its an attractive and very boldly decorated figure.
Height : 9″ (23cm)
Condition : Some restoration and overpainting, restoration to the trunk & tusks of his headress. Some typical firing cracks, mostly at the back of the base (see photos)
