Description
A very decorative pair of Coalport porcelain ornamental ewers, rococo style moulding, hand painted flowers and a rich blue ground with gilt highlights and details.
These are ‘Stafford Ewers’ as illustrated in William Hedley’s Design Book, or circa 1835.
William Hedley was chief travelling salesman for John Rose, proprietor of the Coalport porcelain works. (See second image for a comparison with the original design)
Height: 11” (28cm)
Condition: One perfect, the other one has a glued break to the handle, a few stress cracks and a little twiddly bit missing from the top of the handle.
