C18th French Porcelain ‘Silver’ Mounted Mustard Pot

Description

An unusual 18th century French soft paste porcelain barrell shape mustard pot & cover,with moulded ‘crabstock’ handle & trailing leaves, fitted with ‘silver metal’ mounts & hinge.
Attributed to Chantilly.
Date: circa 1735-45
Height : 3¼” (8.3cm)
Condition : Handle break with ‘stapled’ repair, small losses to some of the leaves, minute chip to edge of base. The ‘notches’ to allow for a spoon have been cut post manufacture, presumably when the ‘silver’ mount was added.
