C18th Derby Porcelain Large Figure of William Shakespeare.
A good example of this well known figure, modelled after the famous statue of William Shakespeare in Westminster Abbey’s Poets’ Corner, erected in 1740-41, a famous monument designed by William Kent and sculpted by Peter Scheemakers
Date: circa 1775
Height : 12½” (32cm)
Condition : Excellent original condition, just a few minor chips restored.
*a few minor ‘shrinkage’ cracks visible, these are typical for this period of Derby and are from the original firing.
