Late 18th or early 19th century Derby porcelain figure of a Mansion House Dwarf, standing on a circular mound base decorated with applied flowers.
Incised model number ‘No 227’ to underside of base.
Date: circa 1790-1810
Height : 7” (18cm)
Condition : Old restoration to a neck break and his walking stick, two stress cracks to hat and chipping to feathers on hat.
Some surface wear and tiny chips to flowers & leaves.

AD Comment:  “Mansion House Dwarfs” are famous  C18th porcelain figurines depicting comically dressed dwarfs with oversized hats, originally produced by the Derby porcelain factory in the 18th & early 19th  century (with many inferior later copies and imitations) The figurines were inspired by real-life dwarfs historically hired to stand outside Mansion House in London, often with advertisements pasted on their hats and waistcoats
