Description
C18th century Derby porcelain candlestick figure of a girl holding a flower, standing on a scroll moulded circular base, decorated with large applied flowers.
Fitted with a tulip shaped sconce which is a later copy of a Bow sconce.
Note the painted leaves on the base which partly disguise the original firing ‘shrinkage’ cracks.
Date: circa 1756-58
Height : 9⅝︎” (24.5cm)
Condition : Chips to flower in her hand, chips and losses to flowers on base & tree, hat re-attached. Sconce replacement and a chip to top of tree. There is no restoration, so the photos show the condition quite clearly.
Stock ref : 18622/yox-
SOLD
AD comment : A good example of an early Derby figure, its a shame about the sconce but it’s better than no sconce at all.
