C18th Derby (Chelsea-Derby period) large figure of ‘Andromache Weeping Over The Ashes of Hector’.
Inspired by Thomas Burke’s engraving ‘Andromache and Hecuba weeping over the ashes of Hector’ (c1772)
Incised model number: ‘No 100’. Date: circa 1775-80
Height : 9¼” (23.5cm)
Condition : Small loss to flower garland, a few small chips to base. Wear/losses to gilding. No restoration. (Line on right wrist is an original firing/shrinkage crack)
