Description

18th century Bow porcelain figure of Neptune with a Dolphin, standing on a high scroll moulded base, representing ‘Water’ from a set of four elements.
Date: circa 1765
Height : 10¾” (27.5cm)
Condition : Overall condition of the figure is good, the Dolphin’s tail has been reattached but is all original. The figure has a very heavy construction of the base which has caused various problems with stress cracks due to shrinkage before and during firing, there has been some (old) repair?/overpainting to the stress cracks and minor (old) restoration to chips to foliage etc. (See photos)
