Antique Staffordshire Performing Bear Group

Early 19th century Staffordshire pottery group of a performing bear, trainer and organ grinder*
Pearlware decorated with overglaze enamel colours.
Date: circa 1825
Height : 6″ (15cm)
Condition : *see note below.. Overall condition is excellent, just a few small chips to the bocage and the bear’s right ear. No restoration at all.

*This group is usually made with an additional performing animal, a small dog with a monkey riding on it’s back. This example lost it’s dog during manufacture, you can just make out the paw prints on the base which were painted over, the end of the stick held by the the bear is also lost a small section at the same time. Guaranteed to be in the original condition that it left the factory, apart from the tiny chips.
