18th Century Meissen Coffee Pot, hand painted with a Cockerel, Hen and scattered insects in puce monochrome beneath a gilt line rim. The terminals of the handle picked out in enamel colours.
Underglaze blue ‘Crossed Swords’ mark with ‘dot’
Dot (Academic) Period
Date: circa 1765-70
Height : 9¼” (23.5cm)
Condition : A fine hairline from the footrim, up to the cockerel’s tail (see photos) Minute chips/wear to flower knop. There is an irregular shape to the inner lip of the spout, it appears to be original, from manufacture. No restoration.
