C18th Worcester Porcelain Apple Green Coffee Pot.

Description

A very decorative 18th century Worcester (Dr Wall/1st period) soft paste porcelain, baluster shape coffee pot & cover, decorated with reserves of colourful birds against an Apple Green ground with fine gilding.
Date: circa 1775 (+?)
Height : 9” (23cm)
Condition : Very good condition, just a small flat chip to the underside of the lid has been filled (see photos) A few minute glaze chips to the flower knop.
The lid is a slightly loose fit but the patterns match perfectly, so it is almost certainly original.

AD Comment: Opinions always vary about the originality of Apple green grounds, there are slight indications of re-firing on the underside of the lid but not on the pot. Either way it is a fabulously decorative piece and is priced accordingly…..
