C19th Staffordshire pottery waisted rectangular stand with portrait of a man beneath a winged cherub moulded in relief, picked out in ‘silver’ lustre and enamel colours against a dark brown simulated wood effect.
* Formerly in a well known collection of English pottery ‘Furniture Rests’ where this was considered to be an unusual form. Its now confirmed to be the base of a watch stand/holder, with the top section missing.
